Eric completed his undergraduate work (B.S.B.A.) at the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 1977. After being accepted at every law school he applied, except Harvard, he graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia School of Law in 1980 as only the 10th African-American to graduate in the school’s 107-year history.
Eric is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri and Illinois. He is also admitted to practice in ten jurisdictions of U.S. District Courts and U.S. Court Appeals in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas along with the Supreme Court. He has first chaired approximately seventy five trials in federal and state courts throughout the United States. He has first chaired nearly 300 bench trials. His Martindale-Hubbell rating is “AV” signifying his superior legal skill and professionalism. His peers in the legal community have selected him as a Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyer on multiple occasions.
He has been featured in Who’s Who in America and in American Law. He has been an Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University School of Law and Washington University School of Law. He served as the City Counselor for the City of St. Louis. He has served as Counsel for many high stake trials since returning to private practice in 1999. Eric has been the lead counsel or team member of a number of high profile cases involving lawsuits worth millions of dollars and school district lawsuits.
Eric is a presenter at local and national Continuing Legal Education courses where he teaches classes on evidence, trial practice, business law, and mediation techniques. He has had articles published in a variety of periodicals.
Eric has been a member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church for over 45 years. He has served on a number of boards including the Missouri District Board of Social Ministry and Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis as Vice President.
