Lutheran North Hires New Head Football Coach Kyle Wagner

Lutheran North is proud to welcome back Kyle Wagner as its new head football coach. Wagner was North’s offensive coordinator when the Crusaders won the 2019 State Championship. He was the defensive coordinator for North’s 2017 and 2018 state semi-final appearances. He left North to accept a head coaching position at Ritenour and then Sikeston, but is happy to be back at home with the Crusaders.

“I’m thankful to take over one of the most prestigious and sought-after jobs in Missouri,” said Wagner, 33. “I know Lutheran North and have deep relationships here and look forward to creating more.”

Wagner, a Kirkwood high school standout, played football at Westminster College, where he received all-conference honors as a defensive back. He was a defensive backs coach at CBC, making state final and semifinal appearances in 2015 and 2016.

“Kyle is a dynamic coach but more importantly he is a transformational leader of young men,” said Lutheran North athletic director Jon Mueller. “We are proud to welcome him back and can’t wait to see the impact he has at our school and in our community.”

Wagner has an undergraduate degree in physical education from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. He is in his 11th year of coaching. He has had more than 2o former players earn spots on collegiate rosters and will continue Lutheran North’s reputation as scholarship high.

“You can still go anywhere from here,” Wagner said.
